Bread
Soft, wholesome, and fresh out of the oven—a healthy daily loaf made perfectly with Agrim Chakki Atta. Ingredients Dough
  • 3 cups Agrim Chakki Atta (Whole Wheat Flour)
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water (lukewarm, not hot)
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp honey or sugar (to feed the yeast)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil, melted butter, or olive oil
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
Instructions to Cook Activate the Yeast:
  • In a large bowl, mix the warm water and honey (or sugar).
  • Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the top and gently stir. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy and bubbly.
Mix the Dough:
  • Once the yeast is active, stir in the oil and salt.
  • Gradually add the Agrim Chakki Atta, one cup at a time, mixing with a wooden spoon until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
Knead to Perfection:
  • Turn the dough out onto a clean, lightly floured surface.
  • Knead the dough for about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • The dough should become smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky but not overly sticky.
First Rise:
  • Lightly grease a large, clean bowl with a little oil.
  • Place the kneaded dough inside, turning it once to coat the top with oil.
  • Cover the bowl with a damp kitchen towel or plastic wrap.
  • Let it rest in a warm, draft-free spot for about 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
Shape the Loaf:
  • Punch the dough down gently to release the air.
  • Transfer it to a lightly floured surface and shape it into a tight log that fits your bread pan (standard 9×5 inch loaf pan). Place the shaped dough into the greased loaf pan.
Second Rise:
  • Cover the pan loosely with the damp towel again.
  • Let it rise for another 45 to 60 minutes, until the dough has crowned about 1 inch above the rim of the pan.
Bake:
  • Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
  • Bake the bread for 30 to 35 minutes until the top is a deep golden brown.
  • To test if it’s done, tap the bottom of the loaf—it should sound hollow.
Cool and Slice:
  • Remove the bread from the pan immediately and place it on a wire rack.
  • Let it cool completely before slicing to ensure the perfect texture!

Tips & Variations

  • The Perfect Water Temp: Make sure your water is lukewarm (like warm bath water). If it’s too hot, it will kill the yeast; if it’s too cold, the yeast won’t activate.
  • For a Lighter Texture: 100% whole wheat bread is naturally hearty and dense. If you prefer a slightly fluffier, bakery-style loaf, you can substitute 1 cup of the Chakki Atta with 1 cup of Agrim Maida
  • Storage: Store the completely cooled bread in an airtight bag or bread box at room temperature for up to 4 days, or slice and freeze it for up to 3 months.
