Soft, wholesome, and fresh out of the oven—a healthy daily loaf made perfectly with Agrim Chakki Atta. Ingredients
Dough
- 3 cups Agrim Chakki Atta (Whole Wheat Flour)
- 1 ¼ cups warm water (lukewarm, not hot)
- 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 2 tbsp honey or sugar (to feed the yeast)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil, melted butter, or olive oil
- 1 ½ tsp salt
Instructions to Cook
Activate the Yeast:
- In a large bowl, mix the warm water and honey (or sugar).
- Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the top and gently stir. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy and bubbly.
Mix the Dough:
- Once the yeast is active, stir in the oil and salt.
- Gradually add the Agrim Chakki Atta, one cup at a time, mixing with a wooden spoon until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
Knead to Perfection:
- Turn the dough out onto a clean, lightly floured surface.
- Knead the dough for about 8 to 10 minutes.
- The dough should become smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky but not overly sticky.
First Rise:
- Lightly grease a large, clean bowl with a little oil.
- Place the kneaded dough inside, turning it once to coat the top with oil.
- Cover the bowl with a damp kitchen towel or plastic wrap.
- Let it rest in a warm, draft-free spot for about 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
Shape the Loaf:
- Punch the dough down gently to release the air.
- Transfer it to a lightly floured surface and shape it into a tight log that fits your bread pan (standard 9×5 inch loaf pan). Place the shaped dough into the greased loaf pan.
Second Rise:
- Cover the pan loosely with the damp towel again.
- Let it rise for another 45 to 60 minutes, until the dough has crowned about 1 inch above the rim of the pan.
Bake:
- Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
- Bake the bread for 30 to 35 minutes until the top is a deep golden brown.
- To test if it’s done, tap the bottom of the loaf—it should sound hollow.
Cool and Slice:
- Remove the bread from the pan immediately and place it on a wire rack.
- Let it cool completely before slicing to ensure the perfect texture!
